Membership benefits

DSA membership is open to anyone in any country. Membership fees help DSA advance the discovery, conservation, and knowledge of Odonata through observation, collection, research, publication, and education. Annual benefits include:

  • Electronic subscriptions to the DSA’s quarterly news magazine Argia, and to our peer-reviewed scientific journal the Bulletin of American Odonatology (BAO).

  • Full access to the DSA website, archived editions of Argia and BAO.

  • Fee discounts at DSA annual meetings.

  • Eligibility to vote in DSA elections and to run for a seat on the DSA Executive Committee.

  • Eligibility to apply for our grants program for research and annual meeting fees.


Membership categories

Basic Membership: $15 US per calendar year
Gives you membership for 1 year with full membership benefits.


Sustaining Membership: $20.00 US per calendar year
Gives you membership for 1 year with full membership benefits and donates $5 to DSA to help sustain the organization.


Life Membership: single payment of $300 US
Gives you membership for life with full membership benefits.


Sustaining Life Membership: single payment of $400 US (or more, if desired)
Gives you membership for life with full membership benefits and donates extra funds to DSA to help sustain the organization.

You can also join by mailing the membership form along with a check. To do so please email us at treasurer@dragonflysocietyamericas.org. When we receive your email we will send you a form that is required to finalize your online membership. You will need to fill the form out and send both the form and a check to the address on the form. Please note that paying by check may take 1-2 months to get you online access.
